Designed especially for neurobiologists, FluoRender is an interactive tool for multi-channel fluorescence microscopy data visualization and analysis.
Deep brain stimulation
BrainStimulator is a set of networks that are used in SCIRun to perform simulations of brain stimulation such as transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and magnetic transcranial stimulation (TMS).
Developing software tools for science has always been a central vision of the SCI Institute.

Background

Dr. Narayan received his Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern University, and his Master's and PhD degrees from Brown University. He served as a postdoctoral researcher at Purdue University until starting an Assistant Professorship in the Mathematical Department at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Dr. Narayan is receipient of a 2015 Young Investigator Program Award from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.

Current Responsibilities

  • Dr. Narayan joined the SCI Institute as a Research Computer Scientist in July 2015.
  • In July 2016, jointly with the SCI Institute, Dr. Narayan will be a faculty member of the Mathematics Department.

Research Interests

Dr. Narayan's primary research interests lie in approximation theory and methods, sparse and regularized representations, mathematical shape analysis, high-order numerical methods, and data assimilation. He applies these methods to parameterized systems, high-dimensional approximation, and hierarchical model simulations.
