Rob 2012 desk smScientific Computing and Imaging (SCI) Institute faculty member Rob MacLeod has been elected as President of the Board of Directors for the Computing in Cardiology Society for the next three years.

Computing in Cardiology (CinC, www.cinc.org) is an international scientific society of 4000 members that organizes an annual conference held since 1974. The CinC conferences provides a forum for 300-400 scientists and professionals each year from the fields of medicine, physics, engineering, and computer science to discuss their current research in topics pertaining to computing in clinical cardiology and cardiovascular physiology. The next meeting of CinC will take place in Maastricht, The Netherlands, on September 23-26, 2018. The CinC also publishes the proceedings from each edition of the conference and makes them openly available on their website.

Dr. MacLeod is a Full Professor of Bioengineering and Internal Medicine (Cardiovascular Medicine) at the University of Utah. He is the co-founder and an Associate Director of the SCI Institute, an Associate Director of the Nora Eccles Harrison Cardiovascular Research and Training Institute (CVRTI), and Vice Chair and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Bioengineering Department . His research interests include computational electrocardiography, especially ECG imaging, experimental investigation and clinical detection of cardiac ischemia, repolarization abnormalities, cardiac arrhythmias, and defibrillation. For his research, he uses a broad range of techniques including scientific computing, multichannel data acquisition, imaging, signal and image processing, and visualization.
